I recently moved all of my frags over to a new grow out tank. I have my WD that the tips started peeling and have a bit of algae growing on them. It doesn't seem to be spreading and the rest of the coral is happy with polyps extended and that. My question is should I just leave it as is or should i super glue over the algae or maybe even cut the tips off? I just don't want to stress it out and cause any more tissue loss. I had the same issue with my green slimer but it appears that it is growing back over the tips now.

Were the parameters and the light the same of the new tank.
Damage tips can be a ALK burn or photoshock.

If it has stopped, I generally cut off dead tips to limit the dead surface for algae to start growing.

My concern with that was possibly stressing the coral and causing more tissue loss. What are your thoughts on just super gluing over the tips to cover the algae?

Once it is colored up nicely, encrusting and growing, then snip that end off. If it is doing all of those things now, then go for it.

A frag will heal faster than it will grow over dead area or super glue. A healthy acro can have that whole area covered with new tissue in a few days to a week and then put out a new tip/branch a week or two after that. It can take years to grow over a dead area or super glue.

@Diesel parameters such as alk were similar I actually ended up using muroatic acid to lower alk before adding the frags just so I could match. The only difference really was it was cleaner as I had phosphate issues in the old tank and nearly undetectable in this one.

@jda thank you for this response. Overall everything else is doing well and even growing slowly with the tank being so new. I’ll just let it do it later thing and watch for it to encrust before I decide to take any additional action.

How much MA you added to the tank?

I do not recall. I have it written down somewhere. I think the total volume of my tank is 130g and with the freshly mixed salt i was at 10.8dkh. I could check but i think it was around 45ml or something

+1, I was shocked at how fast one of mine grew over a broken off tip from an accidental mini frag.
