I've got these here and there on my rock work. They are about 5-8mm in length and appear to be hard. I actually broke this one off a while ago... well broke in in half.. it grew back within about 1 to 2 months. Any idea what it is?

Opps, sorry. got excited and posted on the wrong thread. :/It's a vermetid snail
Lol. Sorry! I know your talking to meOh great, Blue, thanks for the edit. Now I look like I'm talking to myself here..... LOL!

Confirm Vermetid. I've been battling them for a while. If you only have a few, get some needle-nose pliers and crush it down at the bulb/spiral like base.
They are particulate feeders. They will send out a 'fishing line' of mucus to trap food particles and then reel them back in. If you have a lot of detritus, they can undergo a population explosion. Predators for it are hit and miss. I had an emerald crab that would eat them if I crushed a few for him. Others ignored it. Yellow coris wrasse and six-lines have been reported to eat them on a case by case basis.
They aren't a big deal if their numbers are kept under control, but if they get out of hand, they can make your tank look unsightly at feeding time and can irritate corals.
