I have been looking around at larger aquariums for when I move into a new home. I have always just assumed I would go with a "regular" style aquarium but I have noticed a lot of really nice peninsula reefs lately. What are some of the pros and cons with these compared to a "regular" aquarium.

Note that all plumbing will be in the basement/separate room.

If you have the room for me a Peninsula is a big bonus,
you get to view on all three sides and it just adds wonderful viewing space.

I'm planning on doing a peninsula once I get moved...actually looking for a place that'll accomdate the tank the best. :-) I'm hoping to find a place where the tank will be a divider between the dining / living rooms.

Like MJC said you get so much more viewing / coral space. With the new Maxspect gyre I'm hoping that's the only powerhead that'll be needed so the end can stay free of any equipment.

Just completed my first tank and went peninsula to use as a room divider between dining and family. We no longer watch TV while eating! Check my build thread if interested in pictures. Simple stand design, not ornate like others, as our decor is more modern with simple lines. I love the peninsula design with 3 sides viewable. I used closed looped to avoid powerheads.

I think penninsula reefs are the BEST! Just think not just one big viewing side but two! It dosn't stop there that means double the coral space!!!!! My next reef will be a penninsula build

Was just talking about this with the wife tonight. I can't see a down side, if you have the room.

I really wanted an 8' penninsula but I got such a great deal on my tank I couldn't pass it up.

I have another fowlr thats in wall but you can see from my kids bedroom on one side, and reck room on the other side. I have plans to turn this into a reef one day, but for now the current fish won't allow it.
