I am in a toss up between a Innovative Marine 50 AIO vs Innovative Marine 75.
I like the idea of the larger tank. The AIO is obviously cheaper. Does the price difference once you include sump, skimmer, etc. make it worth the extra 25 gal?

hi, yes ,sorry the bigger the better... ;) :)

You're going to get more than 25 extra gallons with the IM 75 since you'll be adding a sump as well.

Never had a large aio like that so I can't really say yay or nay.
Only that I prefer a sump overflow system vs the smaller aios I've had in the past.
No reason a aio can't be as beautiful if not more with a hang on back skimmer.
D

Where is the tank going? House/apt/bedroom? The AIO will be quieter than an under tank sump, which can mean a lot in a small space

Yes, great point!! Overall water volume will be quite a bit more which is a big plus in my book. I was referring to the display tank only volume

It’ll be in the living room in my house. The IM 75 is basically the largest footprint tank that I have room for. I currently have an old biocube 29 that will be replaced with whichever option I end up going with

IM makes great tanks any way you end up going. If you intend to run an SPS system or refugium I’d go with the sump tank. If not, I’d prob go with a large AIO

either way shopping direct at IM is usually much cheaper and they don’t charge sales tax

I think it’ll mostly be LPS and softies. At least that’s the plan but who’s to say I may not add a few sticks at some point. Thanks for the tip, sales tax and shipping costs can add up quick!

What did you decide on or still planning? I asked because I’m on a similar situation. New Nuvo 40 long Ext (36*19*13) vs SR80 (48*19*16). Both will cost about the same, major difference are sump vs non sump width 3’ vs4’.
