Pentair 25w sterilizer with 50w ho bulb?

I'm due for a bulb change on my pentair aquatics 25w sterilizer. After purchasing this sterilizer, I've come to the realization that it's a bit small for my system. I've noticed that the 50w high output bulb utilizes the same exact quartz sleeve as the 25w bulb, and the power supply for my 25w sterilizer is good for up to 65w. Is it a bad idea to replace my 25w bulb with the 50w ho bulb? I'm not seeing any reason it won't physically fit the unit. I know the 50w ho sterilizer has a larger body, but I dont really see where that matters. Am I missing something here?

I don’t know the answer. It’s not something I would do though. At least not without talking to the manufacturer. Maybe someone else can give you better advice.

I did this very thing for the same reason. Only exception is I replaced the power supply as well. The power supply the 50watt ho uses is much bigger.
