Is there any small angel that looks like the peppermint? My close friend found them and decided he wanted a pair, but he didn't know that they were ~$25,000 fish, lol. Preferably they should fit in a 90 gallon tank and be fine together. He would like to try and breed them, but it's really not important. But they definitely need to look like peppermints. Thanks!

Multibar angels are very close relatives and bear the closest resemblance, but are a more delicate angel species.

So get 2 flame angles and 2:multibar angles and call it a day? :-)

OP : Look at the bar pattern, just like the peppermint right?
OpF: But it is not red.
OP: Look to the right, that fa is red. Plus you have twice the amount of fish at a fraction of the price.
And if you can convince the flame angle to go after the multibar, the offspring will be red and stripped like a real peppermint angle.

Happy Sunday

Flame angel, Multibar angel, and Golden angel as far as color and stripes go.

They are in different genera, so there is no possible way for them to interbreed, correct? Sorry if I didn't catch it if you were being sarcastic. I like the multi bar angels - a pair will fit perfectly in a 90 gallon, they're striped, and they are harder to keep. However they are not red! It's a toss up between them and the golden angel until someone else chimes in with something closer

I was kidding ;-)

Lol. I guess a breeding pair of multi bar angels would do fine in a 90 gallon? Is there anything about breeding this species online? Let alone keeping them?

Take out a loan for 2 peppermint angels and breed them. It's an investment.

I would love to do that, but the risks are just too high. Nobody knows how to breed them really, there is little known about keeping them in captivity, they don't ship well, they require cool, dark, deep-water conditions, need I go on?

Although yes, it would be an investment if you knew what you were doing I suppose
