Hi, I've got a 1 year old 55g reef tank that's lightly stocked. Just 2 bangaiis and a little blue chromis, a small CUC and various corals. Anyway, I bought 3 peppermint shrimp about a month ago, and after 2 weeks or so they flat out disappeared. No mortal remains whatsoever. My fish and corals seem as happy as ever.

I know peppermints hide well, but I've been keeping an eye out for them for 2 weeks and haven't seen a thing. Any idea what might be going on?

i have the same problem, haven't seen mine for a month, but my aptasia disappears so he must be alive lol. try having the lights off for a few hours then turn the on, maybe he will come out, they are supposed to be nocturnal

When I say they can hide well I mean they can literally disappear into the rock. I moved some rock around one day and only saw a whisker sticking out from deep inside the rock.

They can get into some very tiny holes.

Once they had been in my tank for a while and were comfortable I noticed one found a cave that he hangs out in during the day. He is visible all the time now.

My aiptasia are carrying on as happily as ever unfortunately... I'd like to add more peps to deal with the problem but at $25 for a trio (the going price here), I want to be sure they won't disappear like their predecessors...
