Peppermint shrimp eating hammer coral

What can I do to prevent this ? Only feed everyone every 3 days . Because I don’t want high nitrates. They didn’t bother it before I changed the feeding . Was actually over feeding before .

I'd remove the peppermint shrimp. Once they start munching coral they don't tend to stop IME

I don't due Peppermint shrimp or Emerald crabs as they Cannot be trusted and often forget their desired purpose and turn to corals- Emerald crab Vs. Zoa and Peppermint Vs. Meaty coral

I've had a similar experience with a peppermint shrimp. I caught it in the act of devouring a hammer coral one night and I thought maybe I wasn't feeding the tank enough. So I purposefully spot fed the shrimp a few days in a row and it still went after the hammer and eventually killed it. I ended up removing it and haven't had issues with anything else targeting my corals. It's possible it was a camel shrimp and not a peppermint but I don't think that was the case, from what I've read some of them just break bad and go after corals.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I I broke out the soapbox to tell people to not trust/use peppermints to get rid of Aptasia for this very reason..
Take out the peppermints asap.. once they go for coral, they don't stop ..

same result here.. peppermint shrimp took out acans and then moved on to hammers. skewer the *******

I caught 3 of my first peppermint shrimp eating my first ever hammer coral and I **** you not the same morning I used them for bait.

They eat coral. Remove them

Every three days might be a little stingy. Even a good shrimp seems pretty likely to go bad if it's hungry enough.
