So, a few weeks ago I picked up this PS to help clean my tank and 2 Turbo snails. With in 20 or so minutes... It was chasing out my Yellow Watchman Goby ( he didn't have a buddy shrimp. :( ....) Out from his spot. After a day or two... He seemed fine and the goby just went else where, but a week after that.

This Deamon shrimp was eating my mushroom frag. Like what the heck?!?

Then this pass Wednesday, he and 2 blue legged Hermits were dinning on a turbo. I guess he fell and couldn't turn. But when I woke this morning... I saw my goby just sitting there and wouldn't move. I only had my blue lights on so I didn't notice any odd till after I came back from getting coffee, he was still there. And the shrimp hanging above him like a stalker...
So I turned on the lights and toy horror, my goby had no color and no guts. He was hallow. I want to deep fry this shrimp.
Can anyone tell me what may have set this guy off or maybe he isn't even a real Peppermint. I'm planning on taking him back to my LFS and get a sexy instead. My tank is 2.5 gal by the way.

Looks like a peppermint to me...
Goby may have died they are scavengers hence why he was munching on the turbo, the hermit probably killed the turbo for his shell JM2C

The shell is still there. None have claimed it.

I'm still sad, my wife is so upset. I got him for her... Thanks Mike

Just noticed this one "****" right before the lights went out lol

Yeah, I think I'm done with Peppermint's myself. They seem like murders more than they are anything else. My Peppermint started eating my feather dusters. Broke my BF's heart because I'd gotten the shrimp for him. He's a huge Christmas fan so I thought it was a cute joke. Alex even started his massacre the day the BF named him. Sick irony. I think I'm going to get sexy shrimp instead too, though I've read they need to be kept in groups of 3 or more.

That is a possibility, they will go after Zoas and Platys I've noticed that some of my little feather dusters haven't been "opening" I thought maybe they were just dropping heads as they are known to do from time to time I'll have to keep an eye out.

I've heard they will leave your Zoas and Palys alone if you just make sure to feed them hearty and meaty foods. I feed my Clownfish pellets every morning and thawed meaty or live brine shrimp every evening, so the shrimp should have no trouble finding food in my tank. I haven't heard of anyone who was religiously feeding them having a problem, but of course that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Just means I'm a bad Googler.

Lol bad Googler thats epic! Ironically when it comes to power feeding I'm guilty! I have a pair of Cinnamon Clowns and a decent amount of fish. I recently bought a bubble tip for my clownish, the last two days it was on the bottom glass then right im front this morning I couldn't see it so I turned on the actinics a little to look it is MIA but the mother rock of dusters is fully loaded again. I'm dumbfounded om where my BTA is though lol

Tell me about it. I have a terrible time saying no when my little clowns look at me and wiggle (Excessive Wiggling, or EW, is clownfish for "I'm hungry," for those that didn't know). I have a nano tank, a Fluval Evo 13.5, so only 4 fish in my tank. A Midnight clown, Grade A DaVinci clown, Twin Spot and a Barnacle Blenny. I have a substantial clean-up crew though. Five Hermits, two massive Nassarius and two tiny Nassarius, 4 nerites and theoretically there is an emerald crab in there somewhere but I haven't seen him in - well since a week after I bought him. Those guys ("those guys" meaning the whole tank) usually end up with about half a cube to a whole cube of frozen food (Brine or Mysis until I buy something more exciting) in the evenings. I also have chaeto and a tiny refugium in my tiny all-in-one sump so I haven't noticed any swings in my Nitrates or Nitrites nor ammonia so it would seem they all have it under control. I recently lost my Skunk Cleaner though and he was my best eater so it's possible that will all shift in the time between now and when I buy a new one. (Want to make sure that whatever killed my little buddy is solved and not going to hurt any new inverts that I get in the future.)
