Peppermint shrimp picking at coral

Just saw a peppermint shrimp picking at one of my stylos , it's lights out at the min
The bit he attacked is white ...Sort of looks abit like ALK burn in a way but my alk is OK sitting at 8.3 to 8.6
Will a peppermint attack corals ?

No aptasia, my tank is apt free
Just got a pic of him doing it again

They will pick at dying flesh on corals

OK , maybe it's ALK burn than and he's just pick at the dead bit

I've had them pick on acans and a fungia, that was NOT dying tissue.

I had peppermints decimate my acan collection. Put them in for Aptasia control, and once the Aptasia were gone, Acans were next. Peppermints are the devil IMO.

sometimes peppermint shrimps get confused with camel shrimps. sometimes peppermints are underfed and do feast on corals

I had a shrimp that attacked my Trachyphyllia. I took it out right away. Fast forward a year later and I was desperate so I put three Pepermint Shrimps in and these guys have been awesome in keeping aptasia in check. Yeah, feed your tank keep these guys happy would be my suggestion.

I had my 2 peppermint shrimp attack and tear apart my duncans and an acan. All were perfectly healthy and then the shrimp just decided they had a taste for the. It took a few days, but I finally banished them to the sump after they started in on my sun coral.

SMH. Just can't win. I got 2 Aiptasia eating file fish and they started nipping at the Euphillia and then eat all my zoas. got them out after 3 days and now i got 8 peps. haven't seen them eat any coral nor aiptasia. ugh. Got a copper band but he is so shy he couldn't compete for food and his health declined. Last option would be Nudi but i have wrasses so I'm not sure that would work out either. at a loss right now

Is your aiptasia pretty bad? Superglue, and kalk paste won't work?

Peppermint shrimp, should be named Satan's shrimp. Will never trust one again.

Yep horrible creatures, I had a feather duster for a while and both of my creatures decided to tear it up, and yes I witnessed the act. Never will I purchase a shrimp again.
