I am fairly new to the saltwater tank world so forgive my inexperience. After 1 week of setting up my first tank up and ensuring my parameters were good, I realized the live rock has Aiptasia. I bought 2 peppermint shrimp from the local place today to eat it all up. However, they don't seem totally interested in it at all. What is the possibility I didn't get peppermint shrimp? Ok, from the talk I just figured it was going be be a little more instant. Really just glad to know that I got the right ones. Thanks for the help.

Those are definitely peppermint shrimp. However there are two different Types of peppermint shrimp from different areas. One is more likely to eat aptasia.. Also, Look up the site Reeftopia. Their peppermint shrimp are said to have been raised on nothing but aptasia. Worked for me

Peppers are hit or miss.
What corals do you have in there now?
There is one for sure method I have found to rid of absolutely all aiptasia at one time.
Temperature

Wiz I will look into that thank you. Right now I have a mushroom (don't know more than that yet) and a green Stoney polyp

Good news, white light went out for the night, I looked away for about an hour and now I have no Aiptasia :)

The right kind og peppermint is awsome. I had about 5 aptasia in my old tank.90g . One pepermi nt from reeftopia. Took 2 days. After day 2 never saw one again. That said I didn't want peps in my current tank so joes juice is just as good if you can reach the nems. :-D

Mine did a great job with eating aptasia. Just be careful with corals. I had one in my 29 reef and he ate my trumpet corals. I have also heard of problems with them eating plate corals and frogspawn. Hopefully you have one that shows no interest in corals. The best thing to do is to target feed them because they have a huge apatite. Good luck!!!
