Wish I had a warning before I purchased this guy.
So for about a month I had a great experience with my PEP. He would stay in the cave during the day, collect food twice a day mysis mostly when I fed. I would even see him cleaning fish.
I have a duncan coral frag 2 head which I baby. I feed it like crazy. IT started to grow like 3 extra heads this month. Well, in the mornings I would see it starting to disappear. I also had a candycane which completely disappeared. So, I started to think it was the pep. I have no coral eaters in my tank. My son happened to look at the tank early when the lights just came on and screamed "Hes eating the duncan".
So, on Xmas day I had to flush his butt. It took 3 nights to catch him. I tired him out chasing him around until he stopped for the net.

DONT Buy PEP Shrimp.

Reason why I don’t buy them. I trust a politician more than I trust peppermints and emerald crabs

Bummer you had to flush your shrimp. But yes, peppermint shrimp can target LPS. I only keep peps in my sump for this reason.

I dont endorse flushing animals as a humane way of killing them.

So that said, yeah... I had a similar experience. They are amazing at killing the aiptasia but they have attacked some of my LPS recently so I need to trap them and put in sump.

If there is food for them they typically won’t do this. I’ve never had any issues with my mithrax crabs or shrimp.

Peppermint doing what they do. There are hundreds of threads on this forum that provide a warning to anyone contemplating them.
