So I spoke to Triton rep asked, if my calcium only off, or alkilinity off, etc. Just one element off, for sake of argument. Will there product correct that, without effecting other elements.
He replied yes, won't effect others. Now before ever talking to them, months before, I called, every LFS. In, Socal. Asked if they have products to only raise calcium and not effect alkilinity, ,magnesium,etc.... ALL SAID NO, ALL PRODUCTS THEY CARRY WILL EFFECT ALKILINITY, ETC...

So who do I, believe. Just so you know some LFS around 30, 40yrs.

In this case, Triton is correct. Dosing 1/2 of a 2 part, the part containing Ca, will allow you to raise your Ca without affecting alkalinity. It will however affect your salinity, which may cause cascading adjustments of other elements if you attempt to lower the salinity.

I'm wondering how Triton has chemicals that LFS, doesn't. How's that.

Your LFS will only stock your typical commercial offerings (most likely). So they may not offer things like Calcium Chloride (the Ca portion of the DIY 2 part recipes). However, any of the commercial 2 parts systems (or 3 part), will be able to accomplish what you are theorizing (adjusting calcium without affecting alkalinity). For example, see Kent Liquid Calcium. It is a commercial version of a solution of calcium chloride.

So what I am trying to say, is that the explanation from your LFS is not correct or was not explained correctly. Alkalinity and Calcium levels are totally independently adjustable and this fact is the basis of 2 part dosing that so many of us use.

Every LFS I have been to carries Ca separately in one form or another. Almost all cary Bionic or something like it. You just need to use the Calcium part if you just want to increase Ca. It will have a very minor effect on alk
as now there is more ca in a given volume of water.
