Hi all can someone lay me out the holiest of all holy coral reef water parameters?

Please and thank you

its any parameter a salt mix will mix to, since all salt mix brands show they can be used on reefs. Any degree of shifting difference per mix, allowed. some are high in mag, some low etc.

the best water params are high degree of suspended feed that isn't rotten, and its varied, some of it living if possible. export/physical current/manual cleaning or animal cleaning of surfaces to unstick all the waste detritus off rocks, and then some repeating loop where feed never suffers, and export occurs before rot in the water and subsequent waste. its becoming more evident in time that no one set of params works across tanks, since feed consistency ranges. High alk can bleach out low feed systems, so anyone posting a higher alk may not carry over to another setup very well.

the ideal param is a set of physical conditions factoring nutrient availability, its chemically anything a salt mix will mix up to. to not have a set param goal allows for flexibility in design and makes us responsible to drive our own reef's mass with action, not pin it on chemical reasons we haven't attained the best coral growth. sticking pretty close to your original measures whatever they may be, whether by water changes or dosing, is the right set of params. we can find sps growth in all params a salt will mix to. The best pico Ive seen is using instant ocean for 8 years.

That can vary a little depending on what kind of corals you're interested in keeping.

You can find suggestions for Ca alk ect all over but all I will say is dont let your nitrate or phosphate go to 0, Low but not 0.

Test your water often, if you're lazy and have some cash buy a reefbot.

I'm using Fritz Reef Pro Mix.. Can change that up if need be.
Plan on running a few frag tables but mixing it up with a bunch of different stuff.
I know certain corals require different parameters but is there a sweet spot that's neutral that I can do such a thing?

OK people will probably disagree here but I'll give you what's worked best for me....

Calcium: 420
Alk: 9
Nitrate: 5
Phosphate: 0.1
Mag: 1350
Salinity: 35ppm
Temp: 80

Of course theres a range and these numbers are in the middle of the range ie for Ca 400-440

Thanks Yankee that's what I'm looking for.
What's everyone else doing?
Im using ro water.
Fritz reef pro salt.
Skimmer.
Tanks only been set up a couple weeks now curing live rock.
Plan on putting all kinds of stuff from softies to acros to favorites pretty much everything here.
Also looking at dosing.
Have a hundred pounds of live rock in about a 100 total gallons on the system right now.
When would be a safe time to put corals in?

A lot of LPS and softies like "dirtier" water. I keep my nitrates at levels that would give a lot reefers a heart attack but my corals are thriving. It really depends a lot on what you keep.

Right on I plan on keeping alot with all these sales here I want it all lol. Mesmerizing!

My parameters are as follows.
Temp 78-80
SG 1.026
Alk 8.0 +- .2
Cal 450 +- 10
Mg 1350
Po4 .02-.06
No3 1-2
Strontium 7-9
Iodine .04-06
Thats what I test for and keep my 120 and frag tank at.
"STABILTY" of the numbers you run are the key no mater what numbers you decide to run!
I run a no water change system with a Carx.
Carx runs manmade
"Tunze media" that controls alk and ca.
DSR trace elements added daily and esv strontium weekly.
7" filter sock and skimmer.
Feed 4 times a day with 12 fish.
Finding the balance of fish and feeding is also important in controling po4 and no3.
Ato for stability.
8 bulb T5 my choice.
4 2500gph powerheads with 2 on pulse and 2 on random.
Thats how I do it.
