Perfecting a biocube 29 lighting

If you are just looking to accent the lights you have try the 12" stunner strips. I have 2 on mine a blue and a magenta/blue.

Yeah I run stunner on same light cycle as actinic, to me it looks awesome. Here is an old picture with just the magenta/actinic stunner on. That is only one strip on and no PC lights on. When you turn on the pc lights the 10k fades out the blue tint but you can still see accents of the colors. If I was around tank I could take another picture with everything on.

I have a stock BioCube 29 with the PC lights. I added a Current Orbit 18-24 LED about three weeks ago. I run the orbit on a 10 hr cycle with a half hr ramp up and down. Run the PC actinic about 6 hrs and the white about 5 hrs. All the coral seem to like it. The orbit fits under the hood towards the front.

I squeezed a reefbreeders value fixture into my hood. I posted a diy article on here. It's fairly simple, cheap, and looks great.

Can i jump in here with a question? If so this it, I have the jbj nano 24 hqi i want to upgrade to the rapid led kit. If i do will i be ok with the dimmable braod spectrum kit? and what should my light schedule look like? thanks guys

The person I started this thread for was looking at that fixture. I guess you need to have a controller if you get the dimmable kit. He didn't want to spend that much. If you have one, you'll be fine. I like my rkl and they are not that pricey.

No you can get the Dimmable kit with out the controller They make them with the potentiometer knobs to adjust each channel just requires the pwm drivers I believe.

You definitely want to go dimmable with these kits. The lights are so close th the water at 100% they will bleach a lot of corals. I can not turn mine up past 50% without something reacting badly.

This was my first fix for the stock pc heat problem. It worked for me as well but the leds are weak and I had problems keeping certain lps coral, never even attempted sps. My zoas also never grew much. I eventually gave in and went rapidled. I wanted to keep my hood, and uncut.

Coralife Biocube 29 Dimmable Retrofit Kit - Rapid LED You choose the d 1-10v analog drivers. Unfortunately, you have to buy the potentiometers separately and the 10v ac adapter. What I would do is talk to their customer service and have them help pick everything out. I have had great customer service from them. Here is a link to their dimmable accessories. Dimming Accessories - 0-10V Dimming Accessories (D drivers) - Manual Dimming - Rapid LED
Yes hang on and Ill post a link for you

For $65 dollars you can't beat the storm controller imo. I like the lunar cycle. cloud cover and lightening effects are neat when you have guests over.

I have Steve's LEDs with a Typhon driver that's great for toning down the intensity. I also mounted the lid above the tank. Here's a pic:

The lights come with dimmers too and you could add the driver later. Love them.
