Have any of you noticed that after a particular coral has lots of stn/rtn or some other serious issue that even years later it never gets back to where it was?

Or can corals always recover and be better/more beautiful than ever after a stressful event?

Just looking to hear some experiences on corals recovery/lasting damage

It happens often especially with tongue and plate coral as well as styli and bird’s nest

Cut off all of the dead parts. Remount them if you need to. Cut frags if you need to. They can fully recover.

Every coral and hobbyist is different so yes its possible for the corals to be just and more healthy years down the road. I find if you keep the ALK stable and your tank has nutrients you will be successful. if your constantly looking for a Homerun as we all have done, then the corals are in constant survival mode and never take off.

The only way they can not recover is if they completely die. Just because one person can’t eke out growth after an issue is not a reflection of all corals. Now will all corals re-grow over dead spots, no some don’t. But does one event stunt growth forever, absolutely not, unless youre still screwing up..
