Can anyone tell me how often you can dip coral in peroxide? I picked up some frags and the tank had a bunch of algae. They were free to a good home before they shut down their tank. I've done 1 dip so far and placed them into QT. I'm trying to figure out how often I can dip them to clear all the algae out (mainly gha and caulerpa). I was planning on dipping again in 4 days. Would that be too soon? All frags are soft corals and from my research were safe to dip in h2o2.

With 100% peroxide only 1 hit is all it takes for all kinds of algea in my experience. I hit the algea and let it sit for 5min. Next day everything is dead and crabs are eating it.

Thanks for the information. I did a 4:1 tank:h2o2 for the first dip. I'll check them out in 4 days to see how it looks. I saw it bubble pretty good but when I checked on them a few hours later I could still see some bristle worms on the rock rubble uneffected. I only left them for 4 min. Next dip I'll go stronger and see how they act.

Thank you again

Every few days is what I did. I have found diluted food grade doesn't stress the coral as much as brown bottle. (someone informed me to toxic stabilizers in brown bottle; could be the cause of killing shrimp/snails)

You can dip in pure peroxide? I thought you had to dilute it. Also, you can leave it in for up to 5 minutes? Again, I read that it could only be for a minute or so. Don't get me wrong its much easier to dip in 100% peroxide for 5 minutes one time than dipping multiple times over weeks in diluted peroxide. This just contradicts what I've read so I just want to confirm your success before I go off and do this myself. Are there any types of corals you dont recommend to dip like this (obv. non-skeletal corals dont have this algae problem)

What H202 are you using? I went a little too long dipping a few of my lps frags with non diluted h202 and they got stressed the heck out, wasn't even close to 5 mins though maybe about a minute and a half.

I usually go with non diluted peroxide and keep it under 30 seconds, most of the algae comes off and what ever is left over will disappear once its in the tank for about a day.

Walgreens brand. I do not suggest hitting the coral tissue directly with it. I have a pretty extreme dipping routine. Some corals will stress, I bought a Jacko lantern and 1/3 of it turned white and bleached the day after h202. Here we are 4 weeks later and it's back 100%. After h202 it goes into a bath of coral rx at 5x the dosage on the bottle for 10 min then a rinse and into my system. While in the coral rx I use a bright led light and examine the coral and plug for any pests. I'd rather lose a coral then infect my system.

Thank you all for the input. So far tgere is no noticeable death of the algae
Maybe it expired... I have used h202 on hair, bubble (have to inject into bubbles) and bryopsis. It will all die in 24 hours. I'd try a new bottle, never heard of h202 not killing algea.
