I have a friend that doses food grade Peroxide. He has a 30 gal Display and 20 gal sump that has about 15 gal water in it. So total water volume is about 45ish gal. and doses 4ml per day. He started to dose it because he read it would kill dinoflagellates which it did. and he continued to dose it after it was gone. He says his coral mainly softies are happier then they ever have been and are growing like crazy. What would be the benefits of dosing Peroxide? I'm just curious because I have never heard of this and the only things I could find on it was post on forums 5+ years old. So is this an old technic? Is there any bad side effects that anyone knows of. Thanks, Just trying to do my home work so I can understand that much more on how stuff works.

Increase in dissolved oxygen

Its been used by people for a long time during power outages to increase the oxygen. I'm sure too heavy of a dose would cause problems.

H2O2 kills algae but also inverts and softies if dosed to high. Another Forum has an ongoing study thread. Overdose is very bad and easy to to. The thread is more about killing algae.

Similarly, the aiptasia zapping wands out there I've used come with a warning not to use continuously for more than "X" amount of time without taking a significant time break. Working by electrolosys, they generate H1O1 in the water as a byproduct. (Or maybe that's the main point/how they work rather than a mere by-product...not sure I guess.)
