Perry's 50Gallon AIO Waterbox Cube

Thanks buddy, I appreciate your kind words, still a work in progress, however progress is being made slowly :)

There is something about a rimless cube

Glad I found the restart thread! When you originally started this tank I hadn’t heard of waterbox. Seems like they are becoming a big player now.

Thanks for checking out the journal, much appreciated :) This is an original prototype WB aquarium. I was fortunate to work for their US distributor and take this home when the official line of tanks came in. It does seem like the brand is gaining traction, tough market, especially given Red Sea's success in this arena. The AIO tanks from a hobbyist standpoint are much better than standard brands out there, the filtration area is much larger, and I believe they come standard with media basket, which is a bonus. I have had the tank setup for awhile now, but rebooted when Irma reared her ugly face and lost power for over a week :( It worked out ok, no fish losses, and shrooms and other inverts made it, just lost several acro frags. The tank is now balancing out, and the setup has grown on me, this will be a challenging project. Thanks again!

So here are the specs.
23.5x23.5x20.5" LWH
The filtration are gives 6" of space, so many options for larger skimmer, as well as reactors, probes, heater, etc. The actual front to back depth from the filtration wall is 16.5" ID or 17" OD. Each side has an overflow, the right side is equipped with small filter sock, which I do not use. The water goes down and forces up into a partition area that allows for the skimmer, this area is plenty of enough space to accommodate the Aquamaxx WS=1 skimmer. The left side return the water flows under a baffle to the main compartment in the filtration area where I keep probes, heater, etc. This is also where the return pump is. So essentially all water from right forced to interact with skimmer, then goes over a baffle into the compartment where the return pump is. The left side forces water through the media basket, here I am using 1 liter of biological media(AF Life Bio Fil), I actually like the baffles in the filtration area, keeps air bubbles down this way, I keep my water level about 5" below the surface of the tank, and it is automated with Pacific Sun Sentry ATO. The overflow covers also add a nice clean touch :) I think the AIO tanks are pretty nice, much nicer than others I have worked with before. A couple pics.

Looks great! I have the 30 aio.

The 30 in design was really nice compared to the other lagoons, as you have noticed, they have a larger filtration area, which gives more options for equipment, IMO. Thanks for the kind words, I will have to check out your thread :) Cheers

Good Morning R2R! I was able to get some pretty cool shots of the progress being made with the project :) These photos taken only under t5 lamps, the color is very close to what the eye sees, much easier to take and process photos without LED's on. So the colors look even better, but I feel it is important to post pics that are not over saturated. Thanks for looking :)

The forest fire digi is really bright. I may have to pick up one of those.
What brand fan is that and can it angle toward the water?

@Perry
Your reef looks great.

(lol)
I used to run that Aquamaxx HOB skimmer on an old Red Sea 13o. It was a great little skimmer :)

Edit:
Looks like you got the (newer) W-1 skimmer.
Are you liking the AquaMaxx W-1?

Thank You,

The lineage of the digi is bubblegum, but I have no clue, just thought it was bright, and would look good under LED's. I picked up the fan from Saltwateraquarium.com Unfortunately, it does not swivel downwards towards the water, but puts a good breeze across the tank. I really like it, on a controller to only blow when the tank gets to above 78.5 degress F. Most certainly worth the investment :)

Thanks Freddie :)
The skimmer rocks and anyone who has used the hang on Aquamaxx knows that the skimmer out performs specs. This is essentially the same skimmer, but reduced down to a in sump skimmer. The thing is, that this fits nicely into AIO tanks that have enough space. The skimmer keeps my nutrients low, maybe a touch too low ;)

@GoVols yes, you can absolutely light up a cube like no other aquarium, and more efficiently. I truly feel you can blend MH and T5, or combo T5 and LED, or other combos. This combo I have setup is about as good as it gets, 145 watts of LED and 4x24 watts t5....very happy with this setup!
