What in the world can be done to reduce them? They've taken over my 55 gal. I've use pickiling lime powder in the past and works only for a very small period of time. Any advice is appreciated.

I've had the same problem in my 125 Gal. several times, with several larger ones in there now. I've used Aptasia X with success but they seem to just spread on 3 of my rocks, but none reproduced on the rest throughout the tank.

copper band worked very well for me... tried like 4 other things.... lemon juice, pep shrimp, even drain cleaner which I regret........ :/

File fish, peppermint shrimp, berg nudis, kalk paste, aiptasia x, aiptasia wand, super glue, bake rocks in sun. Some of the many options

Apaistia x works for me, but I've only had a handful at a time (that I know of)

I have been using a DIY formula for over an year, in a mixed reef (SPS, LPS and inverts) without any noticeable issues.
Needless to say I don't take responsibility if it ends up killing something in your tank.

It sticks to the Aiptasia mouth and doesn't let it release planula, while it dissolves the pest slowly.

Produce 15ml of Aiptasia killer solution:
- 2g of Kalkwasser
- 10ml of RO/DI water
- 6g of bostik clear glue.

- Mix everything in a small plastic container.
- Take it to the microwave and heat for 10secs.
- Shake it well.
- Stop circulation pumps
- Use a small syringe (without the needle) to apply right to the center of the Aiptasia,

You know the concentration is correct if kalk doesn't leak when in contact with water and it is liquid enough, that no pressure is needed to inject it.

We had our first Aiptasia a couple of weeks ago. The following worked instantly and perfectly:

1) got an insulin syringe and needle
2) drew up 3cc of lemon juice
3) injected the Aiptasia at the base of the stalk
4) A puff of white came out of the top of the Aiptasia and it withered away immediately never to be seen or heard from again.

Cheap, Easy, Fun, and Effective!

for small Aiptasia it is easier to let them grow bigger. If you try to inject the top of the nem it will withdraw and not be as effective. need to inject the trunk of it near the base

I've got an interesting discovery. When using vodka for carbon dosing a few years back, there were times when I overdosed and bacteria bloomed (you'll know this when the water gets murky). The cloudiness will settle after 1-3 days, then 99% of the aiptasia will be gone also. However, this will also stress and even kill other anemones in the tank. As for fish and corals, they'll get stressed (corals will close) but they'll be fine after a while. Just make sure the aeration is good so that they don't suffocate.
