Pest eating wrasse??

Lunare and 6 lined wrasse are most aggressive in eating pest and at times bristleworms

Reviving a slightly old thread....

I have a 4line in QT and just learned that my LFS is getting a pink streaked in tomorrow. I'm trying to decide which would be a better choice for me. I have a 32 gal biocube. Tankmates are a Valentini puffer, flame hawk, yellow head goby and filefish. The puffer and flame hawk have gone after inverts but not other fish.

I need something to eat brown flatworms.

I couldn't have both in the same tank obviously, but if I purchase the pink streaked I could rehome the 4 line.

My leopard wrasse does a great job at inspecting corals especially my zoas and sps, I will say he does it more now maybe because he’s bigger thus hungrier because I see him all day looking at in between areas picking things off

I think a possum wrasse or six line may be a good fit for a 32gal tank.

Possum and Pink Streaked, yes. 6 line? NO!!!!!!!!! Very likely to be aggressive in a small cube tank.

@eatbreakfast what do you think of the 4line vs. pink streaked for pest control in a 32 gal? Tankmates listed 3 posts up
A fourline will be fine with the species listed, but will severely limit any future additions.

The pink streak wrasse is one of my favorite fish, so I am partial.

Both will work

Probably because the Pink Streaked isn't known to be aggressive to much of anything, while the fourline can be on the aggressive side (although not as bad as the 6 line). That and they have that whole cool jerky-movement thing going for them.

Keep in mind that no wrasse is guaranteed to eat any specific pest. I've got flatworms that no fish has a taste for. I've tried most of the wrasses mentioned in this thread. Get a fish you're happy with even if they don't eat your pests.
