Pest!! Help!!!

Here is what @MAXIMUS FN is referring to

I forgot to mention that these things irritate the coral, and make them lose color and delay growth, a frag even died.

Those are mesenterial filaments most likely. If they are brown and doing that or losing color then I would say something is off and they are a stress response. But I also get them after I feed.

I also believed it. But the mesenteric filaments would come out of the polyps, and these things are in the tissue. When I try to remove them, there is a hole in the mantle

@Pedoconfuego is right. Those look like mesentarial filaments and no they don’t only come out of polyps. If the coral is stressed they will come through the skin. Pulling them off is making it worse. :(

Oh! I did not know that they came out of the mantle too. Yesterday I saw how one came off and the current took him to another healthy acropora, he managed to hit and I had to brush it to take it off. Also do mesenteric filaments do this?

Thanks for asking this question - I recently found something similar on an acro frag from a frag swap - looked like tiny cotton balls that were stuck fast to the skin of the acro, and nothing changed after a dip. I couldn’t convince myself they were not pest eggs, so I threw the frag in the trash before it could go near my tank. Would be nice to get an ID.

Yes they can.

Thanks for your contributions. Apparently if they were the mesenteric filaments, I had low calcium and I did not realize, probably that caused it. I corrected it and problem solved.
