what is this? I saw this molt on my sand bed and it kind of looks like it's from a isopod or something

Do you have an open top tank? Almost looks like the remains of an insect.

Looks like a cricket to me, there are a lot of insects that can and do make it into aquariums.

Do you have any shrimp?

No shrimp in the tank. At first i thought it was part of a mantis shrimp molt but I started with all dry rock and dipped all of my corals.

I have to agree it looks terrestrial. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that has a noggin that big. Ew.

I was Also thinking maybe eunicid worm molt I guess. It just creeps me out though to thing something with that creepy head is crawling around my house. And it's not in one of my tanks.

Based on the size of the palys or zonathid located next to the unknown, that would be one big isopod to come in on a frags. Have you seen any isopods on your fish? Just not sure, I know there are parasitic isopods but I would think you would notice that. In the wild they can be in the oral cavity but I would think that would be apparent as well.

Hmm just not sure.

No fish or shrimp. Only corals and snails and macro.

There's only two antennae and they seem pretty stiff, so I don't think it's a eunice. Most aquatics critters don't have antennae that would be that long and that stiff. There's just something about it that doesn't look right.

That's just plain ole nasty. I think you should just torch the tank and move.

If it's still in the same spot pull it and take an image, perhaps that will put you more at ease.
