Hi,

I just noticed today that there is a worm in my tank. I am not entirely sure whether it is a bristle worm or fireworm. Is it possible to identify which one of them it is? Could you please confirm whether this lad is a good boy or should I get rid of him? Many thanks!

bristle worm. fire worm is hairier. good clean up crew member, but not desired by many reefers due to its spiky nature.

fireworms are not necessarily more hairy they are just more bulky and dense than common bristleworms.

It's a bristle worm. Leave it be. Remove some if they spread too much. Watching them spawn is interesting. All do it at once.

I occasionally pluck several from a rock when doing maintenance but they're almost certainly one of the best cuc you could hope for.
