Petco $1 per gallon ands Saturday.

My beef with the dollar per gallon is they charge you tax on the "original price".

I haven't decided yet. I was going to use it for Nicks new tank. But it is just a little to big for his bedroom. But I went back and also bought a 29 gallon. I have a sump for it. So I may actually replace that 58 gallon that I brought to the meet. I have been using that for a frag tank.

How is it legal to charge tax on a price you don't pay?

I asked an employee why I had to pay tax on the the whole thing. He told me that it is really a rebate and not a sale. I guess that people are paying the full price and then they are instantly given the rebate but I reall have no idea.

Sounds like something a lawyer would jump on.

I purchased 3-40 breeders last year and had the same tax issue. I called Petco corporate and argued that I should not have to pay tax on an amount higher that that of what is changing hands. I probably would have left it alone but the store manager was not pleasant. I was also about a 1.5 hour ride from home so I had time to kill. About a 30 minute wait later they issued me a refund
