Well, the pump for the skimmer failed while I was testing it. I'm going to get a new return pump now because I'm worried that the one the tank came with will fail too. I can use it as a back up/ mixing pump instead.

As for lighting the tank. Do you guys think 1 reefbreeders lumenbar would do well with the 4 bulb t-5 fixture? I'm aiming for a zoa/ paly dominant tank with acans and maybe some hammers and torches in the future.

Yeah that’s just retail wear and tear LOL - the tank did clean up good tho

You're right. It's not surprising considering where it's been used. The tank should look awesome once I fill it!

mabyeeee on the 1 lumen bar, however two would definitely be better, however I am no expert on how much light output t5s do.

I'm not sure what you mean about palys. Is there something wrong with having palythoa with zoas and acans?

nothing wrong with them as a combo, it is mostly just the palythoas to start with, they can be really invasive, and when you try to remove them release very harmful toxins, here is a link to an article where a whole family ended up in the hospital because of palythoas in their reef tank.

Thanks for clarifying. I am aware of the risk. If I get palys they will get their own designated rock island so they don't take over. Wearing protection should also lower the risk.

Well it's been awhile. I've been busy but I'm back on track now.

Finally finished coating the stand:

I did the bottom inside and outside, as well as the rails where it will most likely be splashed. I did not do the entire stand because I'm not a big fan of the glossy black, and I would also then have to make the t5 fixture match.

I also cleaned the doors:

I need to get wave pumps and a new return pump, then I'll be ready to fill this thing up.

I got my gyre pump yesterday. It's a Maxspect Jump 2k I got on sale. It's magnets are not strong enough for the 3/4 inch acrylic (I knew this before buying).

Anyone know where to get a stronger magnet for this? I also have to figure out the pump placement because the supports for the t5 fixture are in the way. You can see the loc line I have on the bottom of the tank which is where I was planning on routing it, too:

Would it be better if the return jets were positioned on either side of the gyre? I can make it work either way once I figure out how to place the gyre pump.

I might make a post about this as a separate thread, but any help is appreciated here!

Tank is wet:

No leaks so far except for the emergency drain bulkhead. Still waiting on the gate valve for the herbie conversion.
