So has anyone here tried ordering from Petco.com? I had 20% off, so figured I'd give it a try. The saltwater fish and inverts come direct from Quality Marine.

I ordered 1 clown tang, 1 lemon peel angel, 1 pink dwarf feather duster, and 1 blue linckia starfish.

The order arrived today very well packaged, with a cool pack, full styrofoam box, and everything labeled and triple bagged. All the animals look great. Only issue was they shipped a bicolor angel instead of a lemonpeel angel. I contacted them right away, sent a pic of the wrong angel in the bag with the right label, and they are re-shipping me a lemonpeel angel at no cost including shipping, and told me to keep the bicolor angel. All the animals also have a 7 day guarantee.

Linckia star is drip acclimating, and the fish are in quarantine with cupramine and their first dose of prazi-pro.

So far, I'm extremely pleased with the animals I received, even if one is the wrong fish, and would definitely order again. The bicolor angel and the clown tang are some fattest, healthiest looking specimens I have ever seen from an online retailer or from a LFS.

They had a sale on salt a few months ago so I bought 2 buckets of IO/RC. On delivery day I see this box outside my door from Petco.com, oh good my salt. This box is awful light, I get it inside and opened it up and nothing in it but packing bubbles and a packing tape dispenser. I called petco and told them they need to train their people that the buckets of salt can be shipped as is, just slap a label on the bucket, it has a handle. What I think happened was during shipment the buckets fell out of the box and broke, so they just resealed the box with what I mentioned and delivered it with no explanation. Petco did offer a refund or redelivery, I want the salt and instructed them on how to ship heavy buckets. I get the buckets a few days later with the label placed on the bucket. You got lucky lol.

that’s weird! I have ordered salt from plenty and the bucket had the label on it. Maybe they had a newbie working that day!

Petco doesn’t ship the live fish, they come from the wholesaler.

Well, they're already eating frozen mysis and live caulerpa.

Star is climbing across the glass in the 75 gallon.

I mostly hear good things from ordering from them online. Selection just isn’t always the best. You’re basically just skipping the middle man and saving the fish extra trips.

are you able to see in stock fish only on the website or did you have to click through?

I have been purchasing more and more from petco. All my recent fish are from there. They have been great quality. Great size. I did have a feather duster not make it but they are so hard. I have spent over $400 on fish there since they started the Vital program for fish giving all fish purchases 20% off plus 20% off all fish related supplies including feed. Plus $5 back each month in Pet Pal rewards. It is so worth the $9 a month. I am also lucky to live in a short distance of 3 petco's that have decent SW selection.

I have not ordered form them online yet but I am planning on it now for the rest of my Tang Gang for my new 210. I got a Purple and Naso from them so far. They carry the rest I want online but have not seen in store so I was considering ordering online. Thanks for this review it helps reassure me. Oh and from what I saw the next day shipping cost on the fish was pretty reasonable as well.

You can see stock status from the menu of fish. Like most online fish stores, if its not WYSIWYG most of them you have to click on it before you see if it is in stock. I do hate that as well. They have a pretty decent selection.

To update this. The linckia star dissolved within 48 hrs, even after a 1.5 hr drip acclimation. They refunded me no problem after sending them a picture.

The lemonpeel angel shipped yesterday for delivery today. It did not arrive until 7:30 PM. Luckily it looks in perfect health and was well packaged to keep it warm and safe. It is a gorgeous, 2.5" MAC certified fiji lemonpeel, and settled into quarantine in about 15 minutes.

I wouldn't hesitate to order again.
