I was at my local Petco today buying some cat food. I thought it'd be nice to take a look at their fish to see what they had in inventory. Then I came across this sticker right here.

Thought it'd be good to share with everyone considering the Finding Dory movie just came out recently. Hopefully this will deter some parents when their children ask for a 'Dory' fish.

I wonder if it's just your local petco though? I don't have one nearby or I'd check it out... If it's all petco stores, that's pretty awesome.

I saw a prior post about this as well and it's good you saw the same sticker at your local Petco; hopefully it's across stores nationwide. Glad they're taking some initiative though I think it should remain past the "8/6/16" date they have printed.

My petco in CT also has this sign up. I was really happy to see it.

Unfortanetly in my opinion thats the only thing they get a thumbs up. For me its either the fish die in their tanks or they die in a beginner aquarists tank. Either way the gish is screwed.

It all depends on the petco. Some have good, experienced aquatic specialists, others not so much. You see much more of the latter, so people assume all petcos are terrible.

From what I've read it has a lot to do with store policy/management, the good petcos generally break some rules/guidelines to offer customers a good saltwater inventory.

The Humane Society has also been putting out similar messages. They'd prefer nobody buy wild-caught fish at all and therefore are encouraging Dory-seeking parents to buy freshwater fish instead. At least with Nemo the kids didn't have to buy wild-caught, but with Dory they definitely will, so I can see the Humane Society's point.
