I apologize in advance if this has been discussed to death but my I am at work in a loud factory with limited coverage and unable to search for some reason.

My question. I checked my Ammonia this morning and it is up after adding a pair of clowns. I am still waiting for my RO/DI to arrive. I want to do a 25% water change tonight (considering my temp is equal to my tank). I am thinking about getting a couple boxes of Petco Ocean Water on the way home.

I want to get the forum opinions on the boxed ocean water. I need to do it sooner than later and wish my **** RO/DI would get here lol.

Also, should I bother to put my power head in the ocean water prior to putting it in our tank. I know I need to when I mix my own but unsure about the boxed stuff.

The petco ocean water is the only thing I have used in my 29g. I have never mixed my own. I just dump it right in, I have never had an issue with it. Makes water changes quick and easy

Careful with it and test it before using it - I had big phosphates in a few boxes and stopped using it after using it in a few emergencies and to have around. The Hanna HI-736 measured 0.24ppm of Phosphates on the last box and that made me stop using it permanently.

I've been using it in my 75 gallon for a few months, never had any issues. I test the salinity before I use it. Just keep it at room temperature no need to mix it just dump it right in.

I tried to use the same product. My corals did not like the mixture at all. My softies closed up, my mushrooms died and my flower pot closed up tight. I went back to mixing my own. Just my opinion.

Well I did pick up two boxes and did a 25% water change. I cycled with my power head in the tank for an hour. I plan to take some readings in the morning.

Looks like my RO/DI system will be here Friday. I will keep the empty boxes and fill those for easy storage.
