Petco rescue, two tangs

Do you know what other equipment you would need for something in that size?

Heater (200W likely)
Lights
Top
Filtration
Misc stuff to decorate it up?

I would still do the meds where you have them though.

Oh wow, I don't really have any extra equipment right now besides what's set up on my counter top except for about 20 lbs of dry rock that I have in a box in my garage

Let’s get these tangs a new home. 55 may not be ideal but they sure can be there for a while.

There's a petco here but their dollar per gallon sale just ended(and that's where these guys came from) . The lfs I use is over an hour away from me but he sells his tanks at his cost and makes money on corals, fish, and service. I'm at a loss for words on the help everyone is offering, the only thing I can offer is a teary-eyed thank you! If you guys feel inclined to help the name of my lfs is Fish World in Richmond, VA. I'm usually the one trying to help people so I feel guilty that everybody is offering so much. Thank you again!

Could be bacterial but it looks more like stress rxn. They are prone to it like bags under our eyes from stress, crying and lack of sleep. Does often turn into infection bc the stress induced cortisol increase which is anti immune and anti insulin like effects also so more prone to any bacteria etc already present setting up shop soon after. I agree to watching over night closely before starting abx

I have a spare Hanna alk checker not out of the box yet. Probably have some other stuff too.

Let me know what you have, I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination but I can afford a little so you're not out money on brand new things. The alkalinity checker is definitely something I could use

I think you are fine. This guy was in such bad shape, I'm surprised he looks as good as he does.

The fact so much color was lost, leads me to believe that this is just part of him making his way back. Keep an eye on it.

With all of this help I'm being offered the thing I would like the most is for someone with some influence to help me make petco aware of this whole situation and perhaps get them to properly care for their fish with the medications, treatments, and nutrition they need as well as properly training their employees

I'd love to see us do something here on reef2reef for a donation collection towards a suitable home for these two tangs when they graduate with a clean bill of health out of QT.

Dont these crowd funding sites take some percentage that could otherwise go to the needed party? I'd like for us to avoid that.

The question now is...

A 6 foot or 8 foot tank? Perhaps the tang police from the other active tang related thread could help give these two left-for-dead Petco fish a proper system to call home.

If you want to hear from the Tang police you have to start a new thread titled something like “my Sohal Tang looks sick in my 55G what’s wrong?”

I'm still in shock here. If anyone does want to contribute I'm sure my lfs would be willing to help by accepting donations and putting them on a gift card towards a tank. If anyone decides to contact Fish World the owner, Joe, will know exactly who your talking about if you refer to me as Matt who comes in almost every weekend.

I thought I might get some praise from you guys but I never expected this, all of you are amazing
