Petco rescue, two tangs

The flukes do die at 1.011 but ick is 1.009 apparently. And if you stay at 1.011 and get evaporation you will be at 1.012-13 and that is out of the known kill parameters. 1.009 has been fine for me on tangs, wrasse, clowns, and angels (that one was also very ill) and no issues. I would avoid the abx if the hypo has offered relief.

I've been experiencing very little evaporation so far and I've been adding water about four times each day since I've had her (about 1 cup each time). So far I haven't seen any signs of ich. The MB has been a godsend and I really wish I had tried it again with the yellow tang before I lost him.

All tucked in for the night

With what I'm experiencing I think I'm going to make hyposalinity one of my first treatments in qt

Be careful doing that because copper and hypo don’t mix and if you get a fish cone down with velvet then you have to raise salinity before treating. If you’re going to use hypo for flukes I’d do it after copper.

I still have a lot to learn here...I wonder if anyone has the ability to put together a flow chart for qt and diseases

Here are two good ones with good explanations and a flow chart!

Awesome, I'm going to watch these right now! I would be willing to buy a flow chart (even on a subscription basis as it's updated) if I could have it in print right in front of me

The problem with having a “set” protocol or flow chart... is the variety of fish and parasites. Some fish tolerate one treatment, some need another, then you realize you have more than one issue and have to decide what can be treated together, or which is more urgent and should be addressed first.

This is a pretty good starting point, but you definitely need to be willing to adapt your plans for whatever comes along:

This helps when deciding what treatments are best for which fish:

Really, reading through all of these (when you have time) gives you a great base knowledge to pull from:

You put a lot of time into that! I've read and reread most of those threads (and I'm going to read them again lol). My problem is remembering each one and where to find it when I need it:)

I’ve read them all more times than I can count, and still find myself referencing them regularly ;) Humble must have a mind like a steel trap lol

I'm working on committing as much at I can to memory but at least I know I can count on your help!

You’ll find the search function to be your friend in the future. What I find is that many of these threads have gotten nuggets of wisdom buried in them. I read them and recall having read them when I need them. But then can’t easily find the thread for the info quickly when I want it.

Humble's indexes help a lot but it can still be difficult sometimes

I know cp can't be used on hippos but can it be used in general to treat velvet in hypo for fish who aren't sensitive?
