There are two Petco's in my town. The closest one has pretty impressively clean tanks and a pretty good selection of fish, inverts, and even some decent looking corals. The other one across town has tanks with algae, not very clean looking, and not much of a selection. I've been visiting them both regularly since starting in the hobby about 9 months ago. The good one has looked pretty good every time I've been there, and I've talked with the employees tending to the tanks and they seem reasonably knowledgeable. Also their prices are pretty decent. Occasionally I see a dead or struggling fish, but overall I give them good marks. I finally went ahead and purchased a reasonably sized hammer coral for $80. Examined it carefully at home while doing a Coral Rx dip and didn't see anything of concern. Put it in my tank and so far I am happy with the purchase. It opened back up after a couple days, seems to be doing well and looks like a good addition. Just sharing my experience, if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them. Happy reefing.
