Worse than I’ve ever seen it. They had lights out. Had some fish and a few inverts. Guy working says they are trying to get the algae not to grow as much.

Yikes! That's kind of what I was expecting to see when I went TBH.

I went in to Manhattan to work at the office today, and since there’s a Petco a block away I went there on my lunch break. Went more to buy my cat a couple toys, but checked out the fish stuff while I was there — tbh it looked well-maintained and I was pleasantly surprised, including a small tank of corals. Didn’t check prices b/c I didn’t want to be tempted, but going by how nice everything looked, and how tiny these baby fish like blue tangs are in there, I can easily see how newcomers could get carried away and walk out w/a few baby angels and tangs for like a 20 gallon tank.

There was a beautiful little Midas blenny in there that was about the size of my tailspot and it intently watched me watching it w/this sweet little face. Made me feel like the puppies in pet stores that guilt you into taking them home.
I remember going into the Petco in Port Chester, NY and was pleasantly surprised by the SW livestock. It looks like they closed now...

I went to my petco the other day to get frozen food. They had a much better selection of cubed food, usually it is only formula one and two and SF Bay blend and chunky predator foods. They had SF bay Reef Plankton, fish eggs, mysis, etc.

I went to use the bathroom....good thing I still keep hand disinfectant in the car. I've seen better bathrooms at truck stops.

Petco near me , have bubble tips , condy ,, sebae and LTA surprisingly , powder blue tang torch ect

I haven’t been to ours recently, but we have one that I go to see if a good rescue can come about. Then we have one that’s average. Not exceptional but not bad either.

The best Petco I’ve been to was in the Hampton/Newport News area in Virginia. When I went, super clean tanks, lots of healthy anemones and corals (I don’t think I saw a bleached one or anything). Got my 2 head hammer from there for $30 or so on sale. They had it a while and it was on 50% off plus an extra 20% for a sale weekend
