Pete polyp's 29 mixed reef

Wow Pete. I visited your 40 thread but missed this one. Looks great, following along now. I have a 29 as well and after discovering low alk I decided to move all the SPS out and into another tank so I don't have to worry about dosing another one. 3 tanks now, and I really should just have 2. Too old for 3 tanks! :)

This tank is a real inspiration, I love the way it looks, so don't forget to keep us updated.

how often you do water changes? and how many gallons?

Thanks guys.

I did no water change with the exception of replacing what was used in acclimation from December until may. Now I am doing a 4 gallon change every 2 weeks.

Looks great, Pete! Post more pics! :D

I just noticed an asterina on my eater egg chalice. I take a closer look and the chalice is eating it! It would get well fed in this tank if it likes the taste lol

I hear the horrors about asterina and have yet to witness it. I have not witnessed one coral die from them. I have noticed when a coral dies they will show up in force to eat the dead tissue.

Same here. I have millions of them and many times they will glide over a coral, even a polyp, move on, and the polyp opens back up. This might explain why a chalice I used to keep in my 40 started to grow so fast. :)

The tank is just doing its thing, going pretty good. the colors are coloring up, the corals are growing. I have kept my eye on the maricultured acro I got right at a month ago. It has been slowly coloring up the whole time, but I have noticed a pretty big difference the last few days.

I really don't know how much more color I will pull out of it, but I would be happy if it stays the way it is.

Tank looks great! What is the green sps on the frag rack in this picture?

That's a montipora spngodes. Its somewhere between here and Florida right now because I donated it to a science class.

Mehh it's ok....
