Hey Everyone,

So, I moved my 135 gallon tank 4 hours to our new place. Moved for work. Well, the tank was not set up for all that long before we moved and a series of unfortunate events with the moving company and I feel a bit like I am starting over. The fish made the transition fine. However, lost some corals. But, the tank has been up for a few months now and I am starting to replace the corals. (Hope to add pictures in the near future!)

Tank Details
  • 135 gallon tank (72 in x 18 in x 24 in tall) with corner overflows
  • Closed loop flow run by a dart pump with an oceans motions unit
  • DIY Stand (Currently just the 2x6 frame: Winter Project will be building the skin and canopy)
  • 100 lbs of live rock with aragonite sand bed
Lighting
  • DIY LEDs (2 fixtures 6in x 20in)
  • 30 cool whites, 50 Royal Blues, and 8 moonlights
  • Currently just running non-dimmable drivers
Filtration
  • Filter sock à chamber with 50 lbs extra live rock à Algae Turf Scrubber à Protein Skimmer à 400 gph Return
  • Algae Turf Scrubber is from Turbo’s Aquatics
  • Protein skimmer is an AquaC EV 180 with Mag 7
  • No Carbon or GFO and the tank seems to be doing great
  • Was running Chaeto in the live rock chamber before I moved but have not used yet.
Fish
  • Sailfin Tang
  • Yellow Tang
  • Gold Striped Maroon Clownfish (Mated Pair)
  • Midas Blenny
  • Coral Beauty
  • Bicolor Dottyback
  • Bangaii Cardinalfish
  • Yellow Watchman Goby
Other Livestock
  • 15+ Sps (Mostly frags)
  • 25+ zoas (Mostly frags)
  • A Few lps (All frags)
  • Long spined urchin
  • Bubble Tip anemone (2 now since the split during the move)

Wow! I completely forgot I started this thread. Not the best idea to start it right before the holidays. lol. Here is a quick video that shows what the inside of the tank looks like. I will try to get some nice photos up in the next couple days. Sorry the video is kind of crude. It was just taken on a cheap video recorder. Hope to have nicer on here soon.

Wow that looks great! There are a lot of corals in there! It's going to look amazing once it all grows in.

Thanks! I am really looking forward to watching it grow out. Been up 6 months now. Cannot wait to see the tank in 3+ years all grown out. :)

Looking good!

Hey Bud!

Glad to see everything is up in running and it made it from Iowa to its new home! Looking forward to seeing it in person!

Hey thanks! Yeah, it was an adventure moving it from Iowa down to Kansas, but you got to do what you got to do in order to keep your fish right? ... Man, I am glad I did it but don't know if I want to go through that again. haha. Thanks again for your help during the move. Definitely saved lives! :)

Wow Pete! You have gotten some fantastic growth in 6 months!! Love your Dersa :0) Do you need more zoas? LOL I'm your woman as I can't keep up with all the growth!!:( Going to start ordering frag plugs by the hundreds. Even giving more away hasn't helped!!! Maybe I should open a business........not! Nice looking chalices you have there too ;0) Keep up the good reefing, my friend!

Hey Terri! Thanks. I hope that it keeps up. I will post pictures in a few more months. (Hopefully with some noticeable growth!) As for the zoas, I can always find room. Haha. I will hit you up some time and we can do some trading.

Now, back to water changes.

That's what I always said too Pete...I can always find room for zoas, NOT!! :0) You can hit me up anytime for zoas :0)
