If you shop PetSmart for fish food....let me tell you a SHOCKING discovery I made today:

Frozen Brine
Off the Shelf = $8.79
Online Price = $4.41

BioPure Brine
Off the Shelf = $9.99
Online price = $5.79

If you shop the store yourself and show them printscreens of their websites Online Price using your smartphone....they WILL honor the online price.

I asked the Cashier.....WHY? Why such I huge drop in price? She said Corp thinks Online buyers dont take up brick n mortar stores, electricity, staff wages, etc....and offer better pricing to boost their online presence.

Huh.

She went on to sat she NEVER buys the Off-the-Shelf price for her dog/cat food and uses the online price. Shes been doing it for at least 2-3 years. Corporate just doesn't care....if you're savvy enough in looking up online pricing, you deserve it.

Makes me almost wanna not post this.....if theres a huge 100,000 R2R person's run on their fish food nationwide....afraid Corp may look into changes in their policies

BUT FOR NOW....they are ok with you picking it off the shelf YOURSELF but enjoying the Online HUUUUGE savings.

Wow.

Petco is the same way. That's why I always tell someone price match online for heaters etc. Check out a jager heater online vs in store or salt.

Think of all the MONEY WE'RE SAVING to then go buy $30/polyp Zoanthids

:p:D:p

I assume the price difference is due to shipping costs for frozen food.

It's a little strange that they would match it in this case.

Interesting. I'm assuming it's shipping and other in store factors. Also I don't mean to hijack this thread but the same can be had from Brine Shrimp Direct (no I'm not affiliated with them) for around $3 per tray shipped, maybe less.

Petco is the same way. Buy online, pick up in store, save about 30%.

I agree - but also - don't just check the 'online price' for PetSmart/chewey - also other sites. BTW - this is not a fraud or some illicit endeavor. Though they probably make 'some more' in store - you can go buy it immediately if needed, there are other reasons merchants try to do this. For hundreds of years - the phrase 'caveat emptor' has existed for a reason - check other prices. :)
