PFO 400HQI ballast only pulling 340 watts from the wall.

looking for help with this ballast. It is the dual channel 400hqi magnetic ballast that are supposed to pull closer to like 500 watts. Both channels only pull 340w each from the wall using a kill-a-watt meter. I opened it up and confirmed that it is the 400hqi ballast.

Thoughts?

magnetic ballasts degrade over time. the only way to fix it is replace the core.

get a 400 digital ballast with a "max lumens" setting. it will pull about 440 or 450. ballast brands in order of preference

if you want to waste your money go buy some off brand on ebay. It will break.

my experience - 8 years in the professional cannabis industry. My current warehouse has 160 1k digital ballasts running in it. I know a thing or two about high intensity lighting.

(my monthly power bill is between $13,000-15,000) lol

Thanks. I actually am currently running the tank with a 400 superlumen eballast. Just wanted to try the old son agro ballast since it drives them even harder.
