My system just rolled over 2 years since i restarted it and am finding my pH sits between 8.35 and 8.55 daily. i generally have windows open in my place which has some influence on it as well but in thinking about it, aside from closing them what else could a person do to manage pH?

To lower a high pH, quick-fix remedies are to add some vinegar or lemon juice.
Just proceed slowly and lower gradually.
Theres vinegar per gallon ratios on the web. Good luck.

Fully agree with @jjencek. pH is controlled by alkalinity and carbon dioxide. Unless you are adding some other buffering chemical, your pH is just fine. As @jjencek said, test you pH methods....I'd suggest having a fellow reefer test or take a sample to your LFS.
