Hey guys im quite worried, my aquariums ph is all messed up, so here is the story, my apex has been reading near 9! So i was getting a little scared as you do, and dosed some ph down, no effect, i did it a day later, nothing, so i decided something must be wrong, i used another test, it said 6.3!!! I have no idea what is happening, so i decided to use my other checker and it read 11, this is giving me a lot kf stress as this tank is a few months old and there are corals, no coral deaths though, so i dont think it can be that bad?? What should i do? Not to mention the bacteria bloom that came with it…

If there is no visible stress on corals or fish, i would not do anything until you calibrate the ph tests/monitors and verify what your PH is.

It is hard to screw up PH in a reef tank if your using synthetic salt and the salinity is accurate....

If in doubt, just do a large water change, matching salinity perfectly.

Tell people what you are dosing if anything.

Please, do not chase pH.

A pHof 9 is impossible unless someone dumped some strong base in your tank.

The biggest impact on pH is carbon dioxide, assuming alk and calc are in range.

By chance did you calibrate that Apex probe?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
