Is it possible to have good pH and really high alkalinity? For example, pH around 8.1 and alkalinity of 300 ppm?

Please recheck you alk measurement, then we may be able to help answer your question.

What test kit did you use to measure alk?

I went out and bought a new test kit, my pH is 8.2 and my new alkalinity test came out 8.21. I’m guessing my regent is bad on my Hannah meter. But on a side note is it possible for it to be that far apart.

Those readings are perfectly fine.

I maintain my ph at 8 and alk at 8 - 8.3.

Stability is the key for alk.

I just let my ph do what ever.

Ph and alk have two observervable components (though chemically the same )
One is co2 in the system the other is alk.
You can have high alk and low ph.
You can have lower alk and high ph.

My system PH usually stays around the 8.15 mark on Salifert kit. But my Alk is Low the lowest it has been was 5.4 My Cal. has been 480.

I have measured roughly around the same time of the day. I also been manually dosing Alk every other day. I need to order another test kit to see if this is Correct or is my test kit off.
