They are doing awesome but the leathers and acans are not as well as thw dunkins and frog spawns. I have a small torch as well

I was looking into Kalkwasser but was hesitant because it can go south real quick if not done right.
I never had an issue, but used an industrial dosing unit for 9 years. If you limit the size of the reservoir, yes it’s a bit of a pain but at least you can sleep at night.

Do you recommend a unit for a 220 tank 40 gal sump

Nope. I’ve been out of this game for 5 years and a heck of a lot has changed technology wise. With any luck someone “recent” will pipe up. My new tank only needs 200mls Kalkwasser a day to maintain pH 8.2 and because there’s only a bit of coralline and a few frags in there, that’s plenty to keep up. So I just use a crappy doser. I check the doser daily and Alk / Cal are rock solid.

What do you mean "it can go south real quick if not done right"?

It's the same as anything else you dose, you start slow and/or use a calculator to determine a starting dose, then adjust as appropriate.

Granted, if you pour a 1000ml into a 10g tank, it's not going to be good, but who would do that.

You are right. That makes sense. I did not have all the info needed to do it properly. I was told that it real easy to overdose your tank with Kalk so I stayed away from it. But from what I'm reading now it seems fairly easy

Update. Ive been working on lowering my CO2 by running a fresh line to my skimmer from outside and I've added a bag of crushed coral to my sump. And did a water change. My Ph is at a 8.2 and my alkalinity has lowered to a 12.1 dkh. Its slowly lowering. I just got my kalkwasser reactor in and ill be setting that up this weekend. Thank you for all your help
