Hi folks

I am curious as to wether anyone knows a test that can be done when you are done baking your baking soda in the oven for a hour a 350 degrees that will prove the chemical composition has occured. By this I mean that yes its supposed to increase the pH but is there a test to prove no bad/harfull chemicals are being introduced to the water column due to say inpropper baking of the baking soda?

Not sure what you mean by improper baking.

Baking cannot harm baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), whether too much or too little. All if can possibly do is convert it into sodium carbonate, or if not done completely, some mixture of the two (which is fine).

If you put it into a much higher temp apparatus, like a kiln, you could drive it all the way to sodium oxide (Na2O), but that isn't any tox concern anyway.
