Last night and today I have noticed my PH is not rising like it normally would. During the day it would be 7.8-7.9 and night it would be 7.68-7.7. Last night it was 7.57 and during the day today its been 7.70. The only thing that happened yesterday was I did a water change and had to take the biopellet reactor off line for maintenance. The water parameters for the tank is 1.026Sg, 450Ca, 1320MAG, 9Alk. The salt mixed was 1.026, 430, 1320, 10. Could taking the biopellet off line cause the PH to lower and stay low.

It seems like I have jumped the gun. The PH is starting to normalize. Right now it’s back on its way to 7.8. Can taking the reactor off line cause a imbalance where the system has to stabilize?

I don’t think that’s the explanation. Alkalinity and carbon dioxide together determine pH. The reactor going off line would more like raise pH by stopping producing CO2, than doing something to lower pH.

An update to the Ph. The odd thing I noticed was that last night the PH was going up and during the morning today the PH was going down. So reverse what it would normally do. Anyways the reactor is back on line and the PH started to go back up. So everything is back to normal
