PH dropping out every few days…

Just wondered if someone could help with this one: on my apex I see my PH reach an high of 8.1 dropping to around 7.8 at night. (This is the best I can get it..)
It stays like this, with the same peaks and troughs for a good few days, but then it slowly starts to get lower and lower until my alarm warnings come on..
..for instance today, my PH alarm sent me an alert as it went down to 7.78 this morning, but throughout today it has only reached a ph of 7.92 and is on its way back down again.. (so it’s risen 0.14ph units in the photoperiod, but not elevated to where it normally goes..


Please could someone explain what’s happening with it...I thought it would remain the same daily..

PS..) my airline feed to the skimmer is taken direct from outside so only mixes the external air whilst operating.

Youll only fix this by either bringing in fresh air to your home or putting a glass lid over your tank and overflow box and pump fresh air into it like i did. I used to get down to 7.6 from a gas oven. Now ph is stable between 8.1 to 8.2 daily. I dose limewater durring the ph drops at night.

If my air feed is taken from outside, what is it that changes the readings?

(same environment internally we’re out at work during the day so it’s just at night when we could have an effect on co2 levels.)

As soon as I took the feed from outside the ph went up significantly straight away, I’ve noticed on a fortnightly basis the trend of high readings they then start to slope down and barely hit 8.

Indoor Co2 from breathing, a gas oven or a furnace that doesnt vent outside. Also organisms respire too.
