Hi

I have my new 50 gallon tank in basement, and it's been going for 2 months, steady progress so far. One issue is that PH can go down to 7.7 and up to 8.1 in the same day. I decided to put a 3/8 tube outside of the house, into the basement and the protein skimmer like below.

As this is just done so I am not sure the result, will check tomorrow.

One question, should I just connect the two tubes together and not use the muffler ( assuming the red thing it's connecting to is a muffler )?

You don’t need the muffler, but it’s not harming anything.
The effects on ph by using outside air to skimmer depends on how hi the c02 is in your house. If the c02 level in your house is hi you will see a difference. If it’s not you won’t

Thanks! I have installed the line and will continue to monitor.
