Last week started noticing ph drop from around 8, to currently 7.74. Since dropping below 7.8 it has not crossed that border since Wednesday even during photo period. Also Alk has risen from 8.3 to 9.1. Take has been fallow 6 weeks from velvet.

Parameters
75/20 tank mostly lps with a couple toadstools
34 salinity
1600 mag (since beginning)
Phosphate 0
Nitrate 0

Dose 1000 ml kalk which is about 1/3 of what did in ato and supplement with 2 part at 5 ml soda ash per night, 12 hrs. Did turn off kalk for 12 hrs to try and let Alk come down. (Prob too drastic now that I think). Soda ash dosing also reduced since turning kalk back on cuz Alk kept rising ( Prob affected ph)
Dose 1 ml KZ lps daily for aminos
Feed reef roids once a week.

Only changes in tank to prompt the above actions is I cleaned the left and right side glass from high algae build up of over a month because of pods “grazing” and didn’t want to disturb.

What course should I take to get Alk down, ph up and get corals happy again? Should I reduce kalk or increase soda ash or reduce increase both. I don’t think I’m in critical area but heading that way.

Oh. Did a 10% water change last evening and it didn’t change anything except drop ORP which had been ceeeping up. Do WC every 2 weeks at 10%.
And toothbrushed a bit of hair algae which is starting to pop up
Tank is 6 months in

Aaaand, in prep for some new frags I took some rubble out of sump which had been in there a couple months and made an island and put back in display. Only out a day

Thanks @Randy Holmes-Farley
I know WC aren’t a solution but it was in my normal routine and wanted to get it out there.
I was planning on recalibration when I get home from work in the morning. Have solutions on the standby. Didn’t want to get in the middle of it before work. We know how that goes.
Thanks I’ll update tomorrow. Just was curious what would cause such a sudden ph drop?
I would think a rise in Alk would indicate either overdose or not enough uptake also indicating something else could be wrong.
Be back with an update
