Hello, Ive been testing my ph for a few days now and it seems to be staying around 8.6-8.8. Is there anyways to reduce it down to 8.3?

thats what im thinking too, because its been pretty consistent everyday, day and nightProbably an error imo. I wouldn't worry unless you are adding high pH additives

Randy, My tank previously ran consistently at PH 8.1. I recently added a CO2 scrubber and now my PH is testing 8.6 using Hanna checker. My dKH is 8.5. Its been 3 days since I installed the scrubber and I see no negative change in my tank. I'm monitoring to see if I can see an increase in alkalinity and calcium usage. I use Seachem Reef Buffer to adjust new H2O and I dose 2 Little Fishes 2 Part Supplement. You see no issue with PH 8.6?FWIW, pH is NEVER too high (IMO, pH > 8.55) in a normally aerated reef than that is not using very high pH alkalinity additives and does not have excessively high alkalinity (IMO, > 11 dKH).![]()
You are approaching the pH where precipitation could increase, a lot. Thanks, that's what I've been able to determine as well. Now the question is do I take off the CO2 scrubber or possibly run the skimmer without the scrubber part time. Hmmm. Would certainly save some of that expensive media if you could bypass it either part time, or partially, if you decide you don’t need to run at 8.5 or 8.6. Something cheap, like a “t” fitting with a valve on it that could be set to bring in untreated air perhaps.Thanks, that's what I've been able to determine as well.
