Hey people , I have a low ph how do I rais it without harming my inhabitants and what is the best method I'm getting a protein skimmer soon so that might help some what you guys think , also an advice on the wavepoint 12" 16watt super blue 10000k led fixture

You might try seachem reef buffer it raises the ph to 8.3 but my ph swings from 7.8 to 8.2 but I dose zeovit so that can cause lower ph which does not cause me any trouble so I don't try to fix it. I don't think API is that great of a test kit you would be better off with salifert its one of the best kits you can get. What salt mix are you using?

It's fine at 7.8. API is definitely unreliable. Don't chase ph. Honestly a water change may help a bit.

I'd get a handheld Ph monitor with calibrating solution. You can get them on Amazon for less than $40. They're much more accurate and easier to read. You may have a CO2 problem that's driving down the Ph. I had this issue and a skimmer plus kalk helped a lot. That being said, 7.8 isn't that bad.

pH 7.8 is OK.

Don't add anything to boost pH unless you need alkalinity because anything that boosts pH will boost alkalinity, and excessive alkalinity can be a worse problem than low pH.

Better ways to boost pH include using limewater (kalkwasser) when you need alkalinity, bringing more fresh air into your home (or directly to a skimmer), or growing macroalgae.

Thanks for the advice I am adding a small protein skimmer so that should help with the gas exchange I also do a water change once a week 10 - 15% ,its a small tank fluval spec v, I get my water premixed from the Lfs I don't know what they use and I know the api is unreliable but its all I can get for now lol
