I've had two Ruolan PH meters. The first worked great for a while and the second not so much. The two PH kits Salifert and API are what I'm currently using. I feel they are OK to get a ballpark reading. I found it real hard to tell between the different colors. I feel I'm running 8.0 to 8.2. My question is what kits or meters are other using? Is there one best kit or meter? Thanks.

I trust my pH meters on my Hydros and Reefkeeper, but calibration is needed every so often. I use Salifert as a backup but sometimes the colors are hard to read.

General consensus is you can calibrate and check a pH meter to see if they are accurate. You get ballpark readings with test kits that are prone to being inconsistent.

I used a cheap one from Amazon like yours, it works fine sometimes, I constantly have to check calibration.

I now have a Hanna Marine monitor, once calibrated it's holding well. I clean it every few weeks and dip it in calibration fluid to check it's still accurate.

I also have a Seneye, it definitely drifts a bit but I see the trends with it, fluctuation, day to night.
