OK, so eventually, I intend to get an ALK monitor - probably a Trident.
Depending what the monitor reads, I would like to program a controller to dose Alkalinty for a specified period of time if my ALK falls to a certain level.
The trick is I want to minimize the amount of PH fluctuations, when this is dosed.
So my question is two fold:
1. Can I mix soda ash with sodium bicarbonate to dose my Alk?
2. If so, what proportion of each should I mix to minimize PH fluctuations?
Thanks

1) Yes.
2) Bicarbonate to carbonate at a 10:1 molar ratio, which turns out to be about 8:1 by weight.
